ANALYSIS: 'Meaningful' Disclosure Absent From AG Privacy Opinion - Bloomberg Law

In a rather straightforward opinion released Mar. 10, California Attorney General Rob Bonta confirmed that businesses subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) must disclose inferences―specifically “internally generated inferences”―about consumers on request.

While not particularly complex from a legal perspective, the opinion has created an operational nightmare for some companies. Why? Because the opinion fails to account for an element of transparency essential to consumer privacy rights.
