Your Opinion: What does 2020 mean to you? - Jefferson City News Tribune

Dear Editor:

What does 2020 mean to you? For me every few years it is the standard for good vision. To others it may be Super Bowl LIV, impeachment, elections, graduation, a drivers license, marriage, the year they will be born and for others the year they will be aborted.

My prayer is this will be the year for 2020 vision in the elections. That people will look to the progress and fight against abortion and for religious freedom that our president has made, despite the opposition. I hear people talk about his immoral actions from 15 or 20 years ago yet dismiss the immoral desires of those who are actively running for president that not only support abortion but desire to expand it and continue restricting religious freedom, pride in sin.

Saul was an immoral person, persecuting and killing Christians in the first century. On the way to expand this persecution he had a come-to-Jesus moment. Thank God for his conversion since this is the Apostle Paul who preserved the Holy Spirit’s message in most of the New Testament. Many were skeptical but one, Barnabas, believed his born again transformation and defended him.

I have been asked, “Why as a Christian would I defend him.” At first I didn’t believe Trump would be a good president, but I did vote for him because he said he would fight for biblical values I believed and the opposition were against biblical values. I’m now a Barnabas because not only has he kept his word, as much as possible, on defending biblical values but the economy is the best it has ever been, he is attempting a dialogue with friends and enemies in the attempt to get along and prevent war, demanding other countries pay their share. I am also proud of his continued presence with others of biblical values, namely pro-life and religious freedom groups.

I now believe Trump to be the greatest president in my lifetime not because he is billionaire Trump or even the thriving economy, but because he is obedient to God’s commands and isn’t ashamed to be identified with Godly values. Can this be said about any of any other presidential candidate? This is why I am praying for Christians to have 2020 vision in the elections on biblical values. How can Christians not defend and support him on biblical truth! Will you be Trump’s Barnabas?
