I feel strongly that a newspaper I put so much faith in should not highlight unsupported claims in its Guest Opinion column.
A simple Google check reveals that the common flu killed 12,000 people between Oct. 1, 2019 and Feb. 1, 2020, "and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000 as of February 11, 2020."
Yet the Bucks County Courier Times lets Monday's writer get away with totally unsubstantiated statements such as: "Dismantling of the very structures that protect us all is Donald Trump's stock and trade." Of course, no example given.
"From his denial of science." I guess the learned writer missed Trump's press conference from inside the CDC with the director standing right beside him. What denial of what science?
“(Trump) snubs all medical professionals." Monday's writer must think Dr. Anthony Fauci is a failed med student.
"Promising a COVID-19 miracle." Trump never said that. We are in the very earliest stages of a possible pandemic. Yet Monday's writer wants a solution yesterday.
"Trump's pocket full of miracles is a nightmare full of chaos." OMG! Run for the hills.
It's obvious that your guest opinion writer's hatred of Trump existed long before the coronavirus. It's merely being adapted to suit the current crisis.
