Support Los Altos restaurants
Although Santa Clara County has just entered the red zone, which now allows 25% indoor dining, this pandemic will continue to exert strong financial pressure on our local restaurants for many months to come.
We have talked to several Los Altos restaurants about their needs during the pandemic. We asked, if a large number of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills residents either dined onsite or ordered takeout once a week, would that make much of a difference to their making it through this tough time? And their answer was uniformly, “Yes, absolutely.”
If you are able, we would like to encourage Los Altos and Los Altos Hills families to join us to support our local restaurant partners. And remember, this means one night a week of great food, no cooking and no dishes. What could be better?

Lee Eng accusations not ‘civil discourse’
The Town Crier’s March 3 editorial says Councilwoman Lynette Lee Eng “has a history of needing more information – basically the refuge of indecisive leaders,” because she asked for details on privacy issues if a third-party auditor handles police complaints. If you were reporting a rape or domestic violence or child abuse, wouldn’t privacy be a crucial issue?
Furthermore, Pete Dailey comments on your website that Lee Eng is unfit for office because she is unable to “confront her own bias,” perhaps “lied knowingly” or may have “totally unjustified feelings.”
If anyone is unfit to represent our city, it’s Commissioner Dailey, who serves on the Parks and Recreation Commission. His comments are staggeringly inappropriate for a city official, from whom we expect civil discourse and respect for sitting council members.
While we live in a social media world of rude and offensive behavior, it’s disturbing to see such derogatory assaults on the part of a commissioner and the Town Crier, which claims to “block abusive posts” and “invite courteous conversation.”
