Loveland events: Art, music, antiques, bridal dresses, tiny houses, civil discourse and more - Loveland Reporter-Herald

Upcoming events in the Loveland area include an Antique Festival, fairy-tale music from the Loveland Opera Theatre, a bridal dress giveaway, Tiny House Festival, Rialto Theater fundraiser, bluegrass concert, NoCo Pride March, a talk on civil discourse, a Hawaiian shirt art exhibit and more.

Antique Festival

The Rocky Mountain Antique Festival will take place at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, July 10, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at The Ranch Events Complex, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland.

The show will bring antique dealers from across the country with a variety of items such as vintage farmhouse and primitives, Americana, militaria, postcards, vintage toys and comics, estate and costume jewelry, retro diner tables, antique American oak furniture, transferware, art pottery, glass, vintage holiday, silver, cut crystal and more.

‘Songs from the Castle’

Loveland Opera Theatre finally returns to stage for “Songs from the Castle,” a multi-genre fairytale concert, at 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Foote Lagoon Amphitheater, 500 E. Third St., Loveland.

The concert features music from Disney, musical theater and opera, everything from selections from “Shrek’ “The Little Mermaid,” “Into the Woods” and “Beauty and the Beast” to Pauline Viardot’s opera, “Cinderella,” which the company will produce in October.

Audience members can bring a picnic.

The event is free and open to the public.

Silver Screen Soiree

To celebrate the Rialto’s historical roots and raise money for a 21st century video wall, the Rialto Theater and Backstage Rialto will hold a Silver Screen Soiree at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at the theater, 228 E. Fourth St., Loveland.

The event will include a Tinseltown-inspired cocktail hour and light hors-d’oeuvres with Gary Schmidt at the piano bar, theater tours, a paddle raise and a silent auction, followed by dancing on the Rialto Theater stage.

Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in their favorite Hollywood, red-carpet-ready attire.

Tiny House Festival

The People’s Tiny House Festival takes place at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 17-18, at The Ranch, 5280 Arena Circle, Loveland.

It explores all facets of simple living including tiny houses, converted vans, converted school buses, container homes and more, with vendors from all over the Front Range displaying their wares and services.

Tickets are $5-$10.

Bluegrass Concert

The Farnum Family bluegrass band will offer a live bluegrass concert will be offered at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at Westside Feed, 5623 W. U.S. 34,  Loveland.

Their youngest band member is 15, and the fiddle player is national champion. The band comes from Branson, Mo.

Bring lawn chairs for seating. There will have vendors and crafts for the kids.

The event is free but some pocket change to support the band is encouraged.

Artworks Reception

Artworks Center for Contemporary Art, 310 N. Railroad Ave., Loveland, will hold a reception at 1-6 p.m. Saturday, July 17, for the show “Out of Place, Out of Bounds and Interfacing With Missed Connections.”

The exhibit highlights fiber and fiber techniques as a means to recall, contextualize and give form to ideas about belonging or not belonging to a place.

Musicians in Action will provide live music at 2-4 p.m.

Admission is $10, and free for members.

Bridal Dress Giveaway

House of Neighborly Service, 1511 E. 11th St., Loveland, will hold a bride and bridesmaid dress giveaway at 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 16, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 17.

More than 500 new and gently used dresses will be available due to the generosity of the community and local retail stores.

No appointment is required. Everyone is welcome.

Comedy Night

Comedy Night featuring Mo Alexander will take place at 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Dratz Brewing Co., 965 E. 11th St.

With comedy influences such as Bill Hicks, Paul Mooney and Richard Pryor, Alexander combines intelligence and debauchery. He has had his own comedy show at the Casino Royal in Las Vegas, has appeared on “Politically Correct” with Bill Maher and on Comedy Central, and has worked with comedy greats Keenan Ivory Wayans and Kevin Hart.

Tickets are $7 per person in advance or $9 at the door.

Date Night at The Gardens

Date Night at The Gardens will take place at 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Gardens on Spring Creek, 2145 Centre Ave., Fort Collins.

Tickets to the fundraiser for the Friends of the Gardens on Spring Creek include a gourmet buffet dinner, two complimentary beverages, live music f and full access to the outdoor gardens.

Tickets are $67.50 for members and $75 for non-members.

NoCo Pride March

NoCo SafeSpace will present the NoCo Pride March at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, at Old Town Square.

‘Aloha Shirt’ Exhibit

“Art of the Aloha Shirt: Keoni of Hawaii, 1938-1951” opens Friday, July 9, at the Museum of Art Fort Collins, 201 S. College Ave., Fort Collins.

The exhibit, which explores the history, artistry and production of Hawaii’s enduring fashion statement, runs through Aug. 15.

It features 60 objects, an industry that has left an indelible mark on fashion in the United States and the world.

Admission is $5 adults, $4 students and seniors, $1 children.

‘Bodies of Work’

Lincoln Center Gallery, 417 W. Magnolia St., Fort Collins, will open a new exhibit, “Bodies of Work: Textile and Wearable Art,” on July 17.

The show will run through Sept. 4.

Civil Discourse

The League of Women Voters of Larimer County will hold a Civil Discourse Talk at 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, online via Zoom.

Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt, a certified instructor with the National Institute of Civil Discourse, will talk about her work in that area and discuss ways to improve our interactions with people holding different views.

Spanish translation and close-captioning in English will be available.

Outdoor Sale

Outdoor Sale will be hosted by Global Village Museum at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 16-17, at 1816 Seminole Drive, Fort Collins.

The sale will feature a variety of gifts, treasures and keepsakes. All proceeds will benefit the museum.

Taste of Windsor

The Taste of Windsor will take place at 5-8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 15, at Boardwalk Park, 100 N. Fifth St., Windsor.

The event is part of the Windsor Summer Concert Series and is free and open to the public.

It showcases Northern Colorado restaurants, food trucks, caterers and local businesses.

The Stolen Winnebagos will provide music.

Playground Dedication

Windsor’s Town Board, in cooperation with Jimmy and Melissa Zerby, invite the community to attend a public dedication in honor of Brycen Zerby, the 8-year-old child who died after an accident that happened while he was participating in the 2018 Harvest Festival Parade.

The formal dedication is scheduled for Monday, July 12, at 5 p.m., at the Main Park, 300 Locust St., in the north side playground.

The Zerby family requested the community’s support and attendance at the event.

An inscription on the plaque that honors the dedicated playground reads, “Best day ever, ice cream and going to the park!” To honor the sentiment, the town of Windsor will have a supply of ice cream sandwiches for the children who attend the ceremony to enjoy. Brycen’s idea of a perfect day was ice cream and the park.

The dedication was originally slated to happen on March 21, 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19.

Old Time Farm Show

The Greeley Old Time Farm Show will display antique tractors, implements, and engines at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday, July 16-18, at the Greeley RV Park and Campground, 810 E. 28th St., Greeley.

The Longs Peak Tractor Club and Centennial Antique Tractor and Engine Club will bring many of their rare collections for the public to see.

Anyone is invited to bring their own agricultural-related collections to put on display at no charge.

The event is open to the public with free admission and parking.

Saturday activities include a sanctioned garden tractor pull, antique tractor demonstrations, mule farming, a wheat harvest, straw baling, antique sawmill operation, blacksmithing, a parade of power and rides.

The mule club will be working the fields Saturday only, plowing the field and harvesting wheat the old-fashioned way (before tractors were invented.)

The stationary engine club collection will be on display with an array of Hit and Miss engines.

The Colorado Tractor Pull Association is sponsoring a sanctioned Garden Tractor Pull with cash prizes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 17.
