Eleanor Barkhorn, one of our most incisive and versatile editors, is being promoted to senior staff editor and becoming an editor at large responsible for a range of guest essays. She will play a lead role in our “return” coverage — return to office, return to school, return to ways of life in the Covid era — and on signature pieces relating to work, education and community. Eleanor will also help shape and commission our coverage of religion, faith and belief, and edit our new newsletter by Tish Harrison Warren. Eleanor will work across our Op-Ed verticals, brainstorming and collaborating with colleagues, and report to Patrick. Eleanor joined Opinion in 2019 from Vox, where she served as deputy managing editor and as features editor.
