Critical race theory is getting such bad press. I wonder if the people so against it are afraid it might get their children wondering about their ancestry or the beginning of their religious beliefs. First Homo sapiens sapians came from Africa and we are all related to them. And since God made man in his image and had Christ born in the Middle East, they are worshipping a Middle Easterner. Evolution played a part in skin color, change in diet and amount of exposure to the sun gave us our current variety. Is this what “woke” means? Happy New Year!

Why are we subjected to David McGrath’s arrogant opinion piece about resolving to challenge others in 2022 with whom he disagrees? Like so many other liberals, he’s offended by the right of free speech. America is a melting pot made stronger by varying ideas and opinions. Unfortunately, McGrath is a college professor who should be encouraging critical thinking, the broad examination of ideas, rather than trying to narrow students’ thinking and opinions. He’s what’s wrong with too many colleges and universities in this country.

It’s amazing how many Trump supporters keep repeating that false narrative of open borders.

Tinley Park says it recycles Christmas trees, but pick ups are throwing them in the regular trash pickup trucks. That’s not recycling!

As of Jan. 1, 2022, I have not yet received my IRS refund. I wonder if we can get interest added on to that. You know if we owed and we would be charged interest and be knocking on our door.

I have good news to report. For several years, I have been reporting about the shootings starting New Year’s Eve in my community in Hazel Crest. But to my surprise, the end of this year was different. I don’t know if the noise makers left town or they didn’t have any ammunition. Whatever the reason, it was peaceful. The only shooting that was done was at midnight. This was the best New Year’s Eve since I’ve been living here.
