I guess if you’re not happy with what a jury has decided and what a judge has determined and you are a community activist or a member of Congress or someone running for Congress, then you become judge, jury and executioner and decide that Jason Van Dyke should serve more time. Will Calloway is leading the charge for more time. Why have you been silent for three years and just waiting to be released. It is sort of sad that now all these people are jumping on the bandwagon and playing the same song. Don’t cry foul three years later.

Geri, Tinley Park

So now we’re into book banning, the signature move of both fascists and communist countries. Way to go, Republicans. Keep up the good work.

JK, Tinley Park

I remember when COVID-19 started, each case was regarded as one too many. Each death was one too many. And each one was Donald Trump’s fault. Last year, Chicago hosted Lollapalooza. It was estimated that about 200 people got infected at the concert. Now a report was released, showing that the city of Chicago raked in some $305 million dollars for hosting the concert. For the last few years, we’ve been told by politicians, health officials and the media that public health is the most important thing. There is no higher priority. Lollapalooza was always about the money.

I love that the people who love to go around singing I’m proud to be an American hate it when they hear the phrase Black Lives Matter. And they don’t even see the irony.

Caroline, Blue Island

I’m reading about the ice rink in Tinley Park and it looks nice, but people are complaining because it’s on public land. To solve the problem, let them install lights so adults can skate at night. On one end, put in a hot chocolate stand, people love hot chocolate when they’re skating. On the other end, put a place where they sells marshmallows so kids can get them and put them on sticks. Have a little pit fire and they can roast them, drink hot chocolate and skate. Then the village will say $10 per person per hour. Problem solved.
