Even though unemployment numbers are at some of the lowest levels ever in the nation, there are many jobs that need to be filled throughout our region. A recent discussion regarding the career center highlighted potential expansion of the program.
The mission of the Warren County School District and the Warren County Career Center “is to equip all students with the educational skills necessary to achieve their unique personal potential. The Career Center fully supports this mission with hands-on learning that assists students in understanding that Learning = Earning.”
More than ever, however, we need students who have a work ethic. During last week’s board meeting, ideas included the purchase of an autopsy table that could also be used for future veterinarians. Board Member Donna Zariczny suggested looking into medical- and health-related grant funding for the equipment.
Superintendent Amy Stewart noted most programs being offered are that would prepare students for careers in forestry and oil and gas development — “Needs in the community,” she said.
Health care jobs now are open not only in Warren County — but throughout America. Stewart talked of a “high needs list.” Judging by the current landscape, that would fit just about every occupation.
